So, You've Got a Big Interview Tomorrow
So you’ve got a big interview tomorrow? You’ve spent the last few days preparing and learning everything you can about the company you’re interviewing with. You know some questions you want to ask and you feel ready to talk about your past positions. So you THINK you’re ready. But are you really ready?

Most “interviewees” are terribly unprepared in several areas of the interview and have false confidence that they’re as prepared as they can possibly be.

Consider this: Joe had an interview in his target company - a company where Joe’s experience was a perfect fit. Joe hit it off with the interviewer, they had great rapport and Joe relaxed as the interview progressed. Before closing the interview, Joe was asked how much money he earned in his previous position and he responded, “68,000 per year.” The interviewer made note of Joe’s response and cordially closed the interview without arranging for a second. Joe left feeling confident and was sure that he had a good chance.

Joe never received a call for a second interview. Do you know why? Joe didn’t either. Two weeks later he emailed the hiring manager only to find someone else was selected and already in the position. Mr. Hiring Manager explained that Joe was a great fit, but the company had only budgeted $64,000 for that position.

Has this ever happened to you? Joe was completely unprepared to answer the Trap question about money. It can be dangerous to answer interviewing Trap questions without knowing what to say. With 15 additional Trap questions commonly used in interviews, isn’t it better to learn NOW; otherwise you may find yourself guessing at an answer when you’re in the middle of an important interview.

You must have a real plan of action for interviews if you want to ensure you’ll succeed in your next big interview. Interviewing in today’s tough markets will require that you be more prepared than ever before.
